How we research & verify
A curated atlas is only worth as much as the process behind it. So here's how we build ours, in the open — including its limits. We'd rather tell you exactly what we did and didn't verify than present a confident-looking listing we can't stand behind.
Current as of [REVIEW DATE]; updated as our process improves.
Our core principles
- We report; we don't prescribe. We describe what venues and sources state, attributed to them. We don't assert health benefits or recommend treatments in our own voice. Health decisions belong with a qualified professional.
- We separate verified from unverified. Every listing notes exactly what we could and couldn't confirm. "Could not verify" is a valid, honest answer.
- Curation over completeness. A smaller, trustworthy, current atlas beats a sprawling one padded with unverified or stale entries.
- No pay-for-placement, ever. Listings and how we describe them are never for sale.
How we research a venue
- Identify the venue from public sources and our co-founder's local knowledge.
- Gather what it publicly states — services, equipment, languages, published pricing — recording source and date.
- Confirm existence and basics — that it's real and operating, and (where findable) current hours and what's offered.
- Flag what we can't confirm — the actual in-person experience, equipment specifics, and the accuracy of the venue's own claims are things we generally can't verify from desk research, and we say so.
- Attribute every claim to its source.
- Date everything — details and prices change; each carries the date we recorded it.
How we handle health and benefit claims about modalities
Services like red light therapy and cold exposure attract strong claims, and the evidence varies a lot by modality. In our guides we attribute benefit claims to sources and state honestly where evidence is good, preliminary, or mostly hype. We don't present wellness benefits as settled medical fact, and we route anything health-relevant to "talk to a qualified professional."
How we keep information current
Stale listings are worse than none. We re-check entries on a rolling basis and date each update. Spotted a closed venue, changed hours, or a wrong detail? Tell us. We correct errors promptly and never accept payment to alter or remove factual information.
How we make money (and why it doesn't bias this)
Bangkok Life Lab earns through clearly-separated activities — never paid placement in the atlas. Being a commercial client has no effect on whether or how a venue appears here. Full picture on our about page.
This is not medical advice
Everything here is general information — not a diagnosis, treatment recommendation, or legal advice, and not a substitute for a qualified professional. Wellness practices carry real cautions for some people; confirm anything health-relevant with your doctor.
